Each cat is unique, with their very own temperament and quirks!
I try to tailor my grooms to the individual cat and adjust things accordingly. Some cats are better on my lap, others are better on a table/surface/floor. Some feel more secure with their owner present, others are better alone with me.
It's all about working with the cat to find out what works best!

YES! Most cats will benefit from grooming. The amount of grooming needed is usually determined by the age and breed of the cat. Long haired cats require more maintenance, to help them keep their coats tangle free. As cats age, their mobility decreases, meaning even short haired cats may need help from time to time.
I will start by chatting with you about your cat and its needs. I will then set up in an area of your house, ready for the groom. A small room that your cat does not usually spend much time in is best e.g. a bathroom or utility room. I bring all my own equipment, plus some floor protection. The maintenance groom then involves nail trim, full groom, ear and eye cleaning, and hygiene trim (if required).
Some, yes. Some, absolutely not! I always work compassionately with cats and groom according to their unique temperaments and personalities. Many owners struggle to maintain their cat's coat and do not want to detrimentally affect their relationship by forcing grooming. This is where a professional groomer can help. I will do the grooming, so that you can enjoy the snuggles!
YES! As cats shed their undercoat, the dead fur can build up in their coat and cause matting. As the matting progresses it becomes tighter against their skin and can restrict their movement and cause pain. The solution is regular maintenance grooms to remove the dead undercoat and keep their coat tangle-free.
If your cat is very matted, it is usually kinder to take them to the vet for sedation or to approach a groomer who offers a full lion trim. I do not currently offer this. If you wish to discuss your individual cat's needs, then please contact me.
